We have had a really nice week
here at Darwin. Managed to see quite a
few of the Darwin attractions and caught up with some retail therapy, which was
very much lacking. Yesterday we went for
a drive down to Berry Springs hopeful that we may have had a swim. Unfortunately it is still closed as there are
some crocodiles that need to be caught and relocated before the tourists are
allowed in. So we then headed off to Howard Springs to see if we could manage a
swim there. Barry managed to get wet under the fountain that spills into a
number of pools but Maree, Paul & I decided not to. At Howard Springs there were some people on
the other side of the water feeding the Barramundi with pilchards. They leaned down to the waters edge and held
the pilchard just below the water surface and “BANG” the Barramundi hit it with
such force that the water splashed and we head the crack on the other side of
the water. Not able to capture that with the camera though. Today is our last
day in Darwin so it is off to the Post office to collect mail and have a look
at the Target Outlet – a little more Retail Therapy…….then we have to talk to
the Tourist Information to see if Kakadu is open and make our final plans. We also hope to get to an Art Gallery here in
Darwin which Max & Carol say in very nice. Looking forward to hitting the
road again tomorrow and enjoying more of our beautiful country.
