It is before 8.00am and we are on the road once again hoping
to make Augathella for tonight’s camp. Another magnificent day, warm, sunny and
no wind could not ask for any better. This
section of road is very quiet with hardly any traffic at all. Noticing lots and lots of Emu’s in the
paddocks to either side. There is also a
lot of road kill kangaroos on this part of the road. Stopped at Cunnamulla for a photo op as well
as a bit of “house keeping” then it is onto Wyandra under a nice shady tree for
morning tea. Cute little General Store /
PO with an interesting water feature come wishing well out the front, made up of an old bath with a running shower above. Could have easily jumped in to cool off. The proceeds
go to the State School at Wyandra, what
a good idea. Stopped on the side of the road to cut up a load of fire wood
before heading into Augathella where we will meet up with Max & Carol. Lunch stop at Charleville where we filled
with fuel, then to tackle the last 80kms before we arrive at Augathella around
3.30pm. The most amazing coincidence happened as we reached the turn off. We all came up from Victoria along the Lidman Way and then turned onto Landsborough Hwy for the last 5 kms into Augathella. Max and Carol came from the Gold Coast and were heading into Augathella along the Landsborough Hwy. When we turned onto the Landsborough Hwy, Max & Carol ended up in between us........could not have planned that if we sat down for weeks to try to organise. Plan on staying at least 2
nights here and tomorrow going to have a look at the Rodeo which is going to be
on here over Easter.
