Hit the road at 8.15 on our way up the Newell Hwy to the
Kidman Way turn off just the other side of Jerilderie. Glorious day, sunny, warm and no wind. Stopped at the Jerilderie bakery for some
bread and then a little wander around the town before back on the road. 10.20 and it is 17deg outside although it
feels much warmer. Morning tea at the
Lions Park at Coleambally which is 63kms south of Griffith. So far today we have seen an emu beside the
road and a black snake crossing the road, as well as a lot of cattle grazing
beside the road. Currently 11.15 and the
temp is now 22deg – getting warmer by the minute and now looking carefully to
see if I can spot an eagle or 2. Lunch break at Goolgowi which is approx. 60kms
south of Hilston. Terrible road at the
moment, very bouncy, hopefully we will drive out of it soon. Have pulled into a
free camp at Mount Hope for the night, safe and off the road with the added
extra of a shower and a toilet block with water available to fill our vans in
the morning and FREE….how good is that????.
Tonight we will crack a bottle of Chandon to celebrate our 13th
anniversary and have the added special event of a lunar eclipse. Beautiful night.
