Friday 16th May - Exploring Wyndham and Surrounds

Maree, Paul, Barry & myself headed off to explore around Kununurra and along the road to Wyndham this morning. Had a look at Celebrity Tree Park where there is a huge Boab Tree and lovely gardens down to the waters edge of Lily Creek Lagoon. Then it was on towards The Pumphouse Restaurant where we had hoped to get a coffee before the trip out to Wyndham, unfortunately it was closed so better luck tomorrow maybe. Called in to also check out the Swim Beach where we may go tonight for a sunset "Happy Hour",  looked very nice down beside the water which spills over The Diversion Dam. Our journey then took us to The Grotto which was stunning.  140 man made steps down to a beautiful swimming hole.  Clumsy me slipped on a rock at the bottom and have cut open my toe as well as skinned my knee....I'll live. Further up the road and we turned onto the 4WD track that takes us out to The Prison Boab Tree 25kms of very rough road, so after 5kms we gave up and will use the internet instead to get pictures. Into Wyndham and up to Five Rivers Lookout (The Bastion) which is also well worth the trip.  The views are like being in a plane and you can see for miles. Lunch in a very cute little eatery which took us all by surprise and then home again.  A great day exploring.
