Timber Creek
Old Police Station Precinct
There
are two buildings on within the Police Station Precinct. The first is a
1908 building, which houses a collection of items from the early days
in the Victoria River District. The second is an elevated house constructed in 1935. The 1908 building is open to the public seasonally for a couple of hours a day.
Both buildings provide a rare glimpse into a way of life for early police in the Northern Territory.
The Precinct includes outbuildings, graves and police paddocks.

Built in 1908 and used as the district police station until the late
1930s, the Timber Creek Police Station Museum is a steel framed
structure with galvanised iron cladding and timber shutters. The
building was restored in 1987-1988 and is one of the few buildings still
standing that reveals early Northern Territory police station
architecture and construction.
The building, now on the National Trust Heritage list, is home to a small museum that houses a collection of items from the early days in the Victoria River District.
